Year in Review Before 2027: A Numerology Reflection Template

A year in review works better with a frame. This template uses your 2026 personal year to review the year honestly and choose what to carry into 2027.

A year in review is the most useful hour of planning most people skip. Before you set anything for 2027, it helps to look honestly at what 2026 actually was: what moved, what stalled, what you learned, and what you are still carrying.

The problem with most year in review templates is that they ask the same questions of every year. Numerology offers a way to make the review more specific. Your personal year for 2026 names the theme your year was leaning toward, and reviewing against that theme turns a general look back into a sharper set of questions.

This template has four steps: find your 2026 personal year, read its theme, answer twelve review questions, and carry one lesson into 2027.

01Step 1: Find your 2026 personal year

2026 was a Universal Year 1: 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, and 1 + 0 = 1. To find your personal year for 2026, add your birth month, your birth day and 1, then reduce to a single digit.

Worked example for a birthday of April 14:

  • 4 + 14 + 1 = 19
  • 1 + 9 = 10
  • 1 + 0 = 1

Someone born on April 14 was in a Personal Year 1 in 2026, and moves into a Personal Year 2 in 2027. Personal years always advance by one each January, so your 2027 number is your 2026 number plus one, with 9 wrapping around to 1.

02Step 2: Read the theme you are reviewing against

Each personal year points to a different kind of year. Use the line for your 2026 number as the lens for the review.

2026 personal yearThe year's themeThe review question it adds
1BeginningsWhat did I start, and which starts are worth continuing?
2CooperationWhich relationships grew, and where did I wait too long?
3ExpressionWhat did I make or say, and what did I hold back?
4StructureWhat did I build, and what routine is now carrying me?
5ChangeWhat changed, and what did the change cost or free?
6ResponsibilityWho did I care for, and did I include myself?
7ReflectionWhat did I learn about myself that I did not know in January?
8ResultsWhat did I achieve, and what did it take?
9CompletionWhat ended, and what am I still holding that should end?

The theme is a prompt, not a verdict. If your 2026 did not feel like its number, that is useful information too, and worth a sentence in your review.

03Step 3: Answer twelve year in review questions

Answer these in writing. Short answers are fine. The point is to get the year out of your head and onto a page where you can see it.

What happened

  1. What are the three moments from 2026 I would tell someone about?
  2. What did I spend most of my time on, and was that a choice?
  3. What did I finish?

What moved and what stalled

  1. Which goal from the start of the year moved furthest?
  2. Which goal did not move, and what actually stopped it?
  3. What did I avoid, and what did avoiding it cost?

What I learned

  1. What did 2026 teach me that I would not have believed in January?
  2. Where did the theme of my personal year show up, and where did it not?
  3. What pattern did I repeat that I have repeated before?

What I carry forward

  1. What do I want more of in 2027?
  2. What am I ready to stop doing?
  3. If 2027 went well, what would be different by next December?

Question 9 is the one most templates leave out, and often the most useful. Years change. The patterns we bring into them tend not to.

04Step 4: Carry one lesson into 2027

Finish the review with one sentence: the single lesson from 2026 you most want to act on in 2027.

Then read it against your 2027 personal year. 2027 is a Universal Year 2, a year that numerology associates with cooperation and patience, and your personal year sits inside that backdrop. If your lesson is about doing too much alone, a 2 year is a good year to practice asking for help. If it is about moving too slowly, your personal year will suggest whether 2027 is the year to push or the year to prepare.

The 2027 numerology overview covers the collective theme, and each personal year has its own guide, from Personal Year 1 in 2027 to Personal Year 9 in 2027. The personal year calculator shows the working for any date and any year.

05When to do the review

Late December works for most people, but the review does not have to wait for the last week of the year. Many people find it easier in early December, before the holidays compress everything, or in the first week of January while the new year still feels open.

Whatever the timing, give it one uninterrupted hour, write the answers down, and keep the page. Next year's review will be sharper with this one beside it. Many people choose a word of the year for 2027 straight after the review.

06What this template can and cannot do

A numerology frame cannot tell you whether 2026 was a good year or what 2027 will bring. What it can do is give the review a lens, so the questions are specific to the kind of year you were in rather than generic.

If question 9 turned up a pattern you recognize, that pattern is worth looking at directly. The free Elunara analysis maps the archetype you lead with alongside your numbers, which is often where repeated patterns come from.

✦ Frequently Asked Questions

What should I include in a year in review?+

Cover what happened, what moved and what stalled, what you learned, and what you want to carry forward. Writing the answers down matters more than the exact questions.

How do I find my personal year for 2026?+

Add your birth month, your birth day and 1, which is the universal year number for 2026, then reduce to a single digit. A birthday of April 14 gives 4 + 14 + 1 = 19, which reduces to 1.

How does my 2026 personal year relate to 2027?+

Personal years advance by one each January. Your 2027 personal year is your 2026 number plus one, and a 9 wraps around to 1.

When is the best time to do a year in review?+

Any time in December or the first week of January works. What matters most is one uninterrupted hour and writing the answers down.

Can numerology tell me whether 2026 was a good year?+

No. Numerology describes themes, not outcomes. In a year in review it works as a lens that makes the questions more specific to the kind of year you were in.
